Graduation star map — the night it was finished

The certificate records that the work was done. This records the evening it stopped being work.

Drawn like a diploma, which is the joke and also the point

Bordered plate, seal, formal serif type, the sky where a crest would be. It hangs next to the actual certificate without looking like a parody of it, and it says something the certificate cannot: that this was a night, in a place, and not only an administrative outcome.

The date people usually pick

The ceremony date is the obvious choice. The better one, often, is the night the last exam ended or the thesis was submitted — the moment it was genuinely over, which is rarely the day of the gown and the photographs.

For the person who paid for it

A second copy for parents is the commonest use of this design. Change nothing but the message line — and if the parents live somewhere else, consider printing their copy from the sky over their town rather than the campus. Same night, different view, and it quietly says the thing nobody says out loud.

What the constellation lines are for

You can turn the joining lines on or off. On, the sky reads as a chart and the shapes are legible from across a room, which suits a print that hangs beside a certificate. Off, it reads as photography — closer to what the eye actually sees, and better if the print is going somewhere quiet. Neither changes the star positions; they are the same calculation either way.

How it works

  1. Pick the moment. Date, time and place — anywhere on Earth.
  2. Make it yours. Names, a message, and the design you want.
  3. See it before you pay. The finished card renders as you type.
  4. Download and print. A 3000×4200 file — a clean 10×14″ print.

Questions people ask

Can I put the degree and institution on it?
Yes — the title and message lines take whatever you want.
Is there a school-graduation version?
It is the same design; the wording is yours, so it works for any level.
Can I add the university coordinates?
Yes, if you want the sky as seen from campus specifically.
What size does it print?
3000x4200 pixels — a clean 10x14 inch print at 300dpi, or smaller at higher density.
