Travel star map — the sky over somewhere far

You brought back photographs of the place. This is the part of the trip that was directly overhead and that nobody photographs.

Why a foreign sky looks foreign

A sky over Reykjavik and a sky over Nairobi on the same night are genuinely different pictures — different constellations, different orientation, some stars that never rise at all from where you live. That is the whole appeal of this design: it is proof you were somewhere else, in a form a photograph cannot take.

Set as a postcard, on purpose

The Travel design borrows the visual language of a vintage travel postcard: a bordered plate, the place name set in the frame, muted paper tones. It reads as a souvenir rather than an astronomy chart, which is what makes it hang well in a hallway among other things you brought back.

Good for the trip you have not taken yet

The calculation runs forward as well as back. A honeymoon destination or a planned move can be printed in advance and given as the announcement.

How it works

  1. Pick the moment. Date, time and place — anywhere on Earth.
  2. Make it yours. Names, a message, and the design you want.
  3. See it before you pay. The finished card renders as you type.
  4. Download and print. A 3000×4200 file — a clean 10×14″ print.

Questions people ask

Do you have every city?
The picker covers major cities, and you can enter any latitude and longitude directly — so anywhere, including the middle of an ocean.
What about the southern hemisphere?
Fully supported, and worth doing: a southern sky is unrecognisable to a northern eye, which is precisely the point.
Can I print the place name in another language?
Yes. Whatever you type is what prints, in any script the embedded fonts cover.
Can I make one for several trips?
Each card is one sky. For several trips, make several — they hang well as a set.
